“Finding a job – It’s all who you know. And who THEY KNOW.”
With the announcement that the UK is finally coming out of the recession, 7.8% of the UK population is still in search of work.
The realm of Social Media is growing increasingly popular as the main method for searching for employment.
A young snazzy developer has come up with a really simple, but effective way of promoting your friend who is in need of a job. “Hire My Friend” is a free Facebook application that allows you to attach a mini profile of your job-seeker friend to your very own profile showcasing their skills to your network.
A “profile within a profile” is clever variation of the traditional model of Facebook applications. I see it being the new app of 2010, changing the trends on how we search for work.
With their motto “Recessions suck. We have an app for that.” the fan page is updated with relevant news stories and conversations with fans that bring a light-hearted and comedic nature to a stressful topic – unemployment.
It’s no longer about promoting yourself; it’s about promoting others – as the Americans say – “pay it forward”.
For more information on the application visit “Hire My Friend” to become a fan and start promoting your friend.
